Our purpose is to assist students to continue their growth by improving on their current skills and building new ones in the field of computing. Students attending the Ying Wu College of Computing voluntarily apply to become mentors. Many of them have been in your footsteps and it's with their enthusiasm they share their experiences in the professional industry, college life, and obstacles they have gone through to excel in the computing realm. This is a flexible program to meet your needs and help you get a seat at the table.

Application Process

  1. Fill out application.
  2. Wait for verification email.
  3. Note: We'll be emailing you shortly after your submission to check if you are still interested in being a mentee (1-7 days).
  4. Wait for application status from ywccmentoring@gmail.com. You will receive notice whether you were accepted or denied (1-5 days).
Learn more about becoming a Peer Mentor
  1. Undergraduate student.
  2. Carrying at least 6 credits (part-time status).
  • Have passion in your field(s) of interest
  • Be open to exploring the realm of computing
  • Active communication with mentors, mentees, and board members
  • Provide support to other mentees, mentors, and members of the program
Time Commitment
  1. Attend office hours (once every other week for at least 1 hr).
  2. Meet with paired mentor during their office hours or free time (once every other week for at least 1 hr).

Provide necessary resources to discover and explore what computing has to offer. Our purpose is to assist individuals in finding their potential and increase their self-awareness in building a brand they are most proud of and can take with them after college.

An informal community to share the knowledge gained from peers, professionals, and anyone in their network. No matter what your gender, race, or religion, our purpose is to help build compassion within the community.
